SNAP – Spay/Neuter Assistance Program
S.N.A.P. is a program where pet owners may apply for a voucher to cover all except $25 of the cost of a spay or neuter surgery. It is available to all pets whose owners are residents of Mason County, Kentucky. There are a limited number of vouchers issued each month.
Applications must be postmarked between the 1st and the 15th of each month. Applications with a postmark before the 1st or after the 15th will be rejected. If an application is rejected, the applicant may reapply in the next month.
The Spay/Neuter Committee will review all applications and inform applicants whose pets have been chosen. There is a limit of three vouchers per address, per year. Pet owners must present their voucher and pay their $25 co-pay at the veterinary clinic at the time of surgery. SNAP vouchers cover ONLY the cost of surgery.
Those who do not receive a voucher in any given month may re-apply.
Applications are available at Colonial Heights Veterinary Clinic, Town & Country Animal Hospital, the Mason County Animal Shelter and the Mason County Judge-Executive's office.
Vouchers must be used within 60 days or they will be void. However, if a veterinarian decides that due to ill health or age an animal isn't a good surgery candidate, he or she may extend the voucher expiration.
